- Built-up letters – prominent 3D lettering or a logo attached directly to the front of a building to create a sleek, modern finish. Letters can be practically any size and shape, with acrylic, aluminium and PVC foam options available.
- Flat cut letters – offering a more subtle three-dimensional effect, flat cut letters are thinner and usually fixed to a tray sign. They can also be raised off their background with standoff fixings for maximum effect. Choose hardwearing aluminium, coloured Perspex or high-shine acrylic for a glazed look.
- Tray signs – Made from powder-coated aluminium or aluminium composite, tray signs provide a base for flat or built-up lettering. Vinyl wraps printed with your company’s name, logo and contact info can also be applied and updated easily.

- Projecting and hanging signs – The first option is an additional fixed or hanging sign alongside your shop front sign. These attach to the front of your building and project out from the wall at 90 degrees. They typically feature a double-sided logo design, enabling your company premises to be seen from different angles and at a distance.
- Illuminated signs – Illuminated signs are another popular choice for businesses that are keen to get noticed at any time of day. Built-up lettering can be infilled with lights, while tray signs can be backlit or fitted with perimeter lighting to create a halo effect. Lights can even be added to projecting signs – ideal for drawing attention after dark.

All of our shop signs are tailor-made to fit the retailer’s available space, with multiple material options available. With that in mind, the cost of a fascia sign will depend on the individual project. However, as an example of a mid-priced option, a powder-coated aluminium tray sign measuring 3m x 0.5m with single colour cut vinyl graphics costs around £450. Of course, more complex designs such as large 3D lettering designs and illuminated shop signs will cost more and we can also offer cheaper options.
Are you a small independent retailer looking to keep costs down? Then the cheapest fascia signs are those featuring cut vinyl lettering applied directly to a painted shop front. Better still, vinyl wraps can be removed and reapplied if you want to change up your branding. Foamex is another affordable option. However, it doesn’t last as long as acrylic or aluminium – around 3 years on average. Meanwhile, aluminium composite shop signs are highly weather resistant and can last up to 10 years. Perfect if you want a durable sign that will stand the test of time.
As a general rule, shop front signs larger than 0.3m2 will require planning permission. On top of that, illuminated signs always require planning permission to make sure they don’t pose a risk to nearby traffic. But provided your sign is safe and non-invasive, you shouldn’t face too much difficulty meeting planning regulations. Either way, we’d suggest speaking to your local council for clarification and to check whether there are any further restrictions. For example, some councils require you to use colours that are in-keeping with the town’s overall scheme.
