Founded in Germany in 1883, Vorwerk was initially a carpet manufacturing company, before expanding into the production of vacuum cleaners almost 50 years later. But it wasn’t until 1971 that they invented the first ever Thermomix – a multifunctional food processor and cooking appliance. And it is this innovative machine that they are best known for to this day.

Now in its sixth generation, Thermomix is sold via local advisors across the country and demoed in purpose-built cookery studios. This includes premises in Ascot, Wembley, Oxford Battersea, Peterborough, Horsham and more. Here, interested parties can take part in workshops and experience sessions, whilst trying out Thermomix’s numerous features for themselves. Think peeling, grating, slicing, blending, slow cooking and even meal planning!

With that in mind, Vorwerk wanted to create a professional environment for hosting classes by incorporating their branding into each studio’s design. As well as utilising the building’s exterior to promote key products, upcoming events and attract new representatives. This is where Bluedot Display were able to help by creating tailor-made graphics, lettering and more.

Fascia signs and window decals

To help Thermomix studios stand out on the high street and garner attention from passersby, we employed a two-step plan. Firstly, we created branded shop fascia signs for the front of each of the different premises. This included classic tray signs with a white background for maximum visibility. As well as more contemporary built-up acrylic lettering mounted directly to the wall to create a 3D effect. Each sign was also colour matched to suit the brand’s preferred palette and typography, and sized to be visible from a distance. Vital if you want to be noticed!

Secondly, to make the most of each studio’s front-facing advertising space, we supplied a variety of self-adhesive vinyl window decals. Quick and easy to install, these stickers come in many shapes and sizes, with your choice of text and images. They cling to windows and glass doors without the need for adhesive and can be easily relocated as needed.

In this case, we used them to showcase Thermomix’s benefits and to promote local cooking workshops and job opportunities. We even included large QR codes that people can scan for more information. As an added benefit, several of the vinyl window graphics we installed onto predominantly glass-fronted studios also enhanced the privacy inside. This was a great way to make the space feel more exclusive for event attendees. And also creates a more comfortable setting for staff working inside.  

Interior branding and vinyl graphics

Indoors, we used vinyl wall graphics and several other design elements to reinforce the Vorwerk Thermomix brand. Simple vinyl stickers were used to display the brand’s name and logo on kitchen counters and acrylic lettering was added to blank walls. Particularly where product demonstrations take place to provide a professional and memorable backdrop for those attending classes. Such setups can also prove useful for video marketing purposes.

Similarly, we supplied faux foliage and bespoke neon-lighting sign displays for a number of Thermomix studios. Presenting the motto: ‘My Thermomix my way’, these eye-catching signs provide a fun background for photos. And, in turn, encourage more social shares – win win!

What’s more, Bluedot Display supplied and fitted Foamex panels and canvas wall mounts for their office spaces and waiting areas. These affordable yet effective marketing tools included everything from product imagery and diagrams to motivational quotes for the team. They serve a varied menu including breakfasts, salads, sandwiches and sharing platters for groups. Plus their very own brand of coffee which is roasted in nearby Cobham as part of their sustainability initiative. At Bluedot Display, our first introduction to Bla Bla came when they sought our assistance with their first café project in Weybridge. Having been let down by their previous supplier, our installers came to their aid and completed the job. We also fitted new signage at their Surrey offices, before being called back to kit out their brand new café in Watford too!

Bespoke vinyl wall graphics and window decals

Situated close to Watford Station, Bla Bla Café is housed in an attractive new building with an eye-catching glass façade. Alongside letting in an impressive amount of light, this floor-to-ceiling glass provided the perfect spot to display branded graphics.

With that in mind, we printed a host of self-adhesive and fade-resistant vinyl window decals in the company’s primary pink hue. This included decorative images and patterns supplied by their team to add interest and personality to their shop front. Plus various lettering designs, such as a summary of menu offerings, opening times and a shaped logo for the door.

Additionally, we supplied and fitted several HD printed vinyl wall graphics to match. Namely a large-format welcome sign for behind the counter, expertly applied for a smooth and level finish. We also created a matching slogan accompanied by several of their trademark speech mark motifs. A great way to grab the attention of patrons at the till and promote the brand’s mission – to encourage conversation and social interaction.

Each graphic is precisely colour-matched, features a convenient splash-resistant finish and is sized to suit the available space. What’s more, all of our vinyl wall and window stickers come pre-cut with a self-adhesive backing for quick and easy application.

Brightening interior spaces for Friends of the Elderly

Friends of the Elderly is a charity which provides activities to promote social interaction and reduce loneliness amongst older people.  At their bright and airy Day Centre in Woking, attendees are encouraged to take part in arts and crafts, quizzes, baking and more.

There’s also a patio and lawn area for exercise and gardening, with specially trained staff on hand to assist those with dementia and other ailments. Better yet, with low income grants available, anyone who’d benefit from getting out and about can access this community hub.

We were therefore more than pleased to offer our assistance to this great local cause! In just two days, we transformed the centre with branded messaging and custom photographs. We hope that our graphics have helped to make the centre even more welcoming for visitors.

Let’s take a closer look at the project in more detail…

Creating an inviting reception area with mixed media

As the first thing people see when they arrive, creating an inviting reception area was key to this project. The main desk is now backed by decorative acoustic wood panels with a brand new logo mounted on top. To achieve this, we created a shaped transparent acrylic panel with concealed stand-off fixings for a 3D effect. We then applied a bespoke vinyl logo decal to the rear, colour-matched to their branding and the entryway’s feature wall.

To balance out this corner space, we also designed and printed a full-size vinyl wrap for the adjoining wall. The seam-free design features a candid large-format HD image supplied by Friends of the Elderly of a staff member and visitor taking part in an activity. Plus a bullet-point list of the charity’s mission and values – the perfect introductory snapshot for anyone new.

Multipurpose printed vinyl wraps and decals

Similar wall graphics were created for other areas too, with full-colour imagery used to add character to plainly decorated rooms. We also incorporated short bursts of text into each design to reinforce the charity’s aims at a glance. A simple but effective way to keep staff motivated! And if the messaging needs updating, the wrap can be peeled off and replaced.

We also printed additional photographs of people using the day centre onto vinyl decals and mounted them onto clear acrylic. These panels were then fixed to the walls with stand-off fixings to create an eye-catching, personalised display. This subtly promotes the activities the centre has to offer, and highlights the great relationships staff have with attendees. Win win!

Branded navigational signage

Lastly, we produced a number of acrylic and aluminium Dibond signs to help visitors navigate the centre more easily. This include internal signage, for example to mark the entrance and central office, as well as some exterior panels too. Namely weather-resistant parking signs in Friends of the Elderly’s signature blue branding to distinguish permit-holder only bays for staff.

In fact, we can produce robust Dibond signs in many sizes, colours and finishes to suit your needs. What’s more, they will not rust in wet weather or fade when exposed to the sun’s rays.

Situated only a stone’s throw from Bluedot Display, Surrey Sports Park is a state-of-the-art sports complex and training venue with a range of facilities including a 50 metre, 8 lane Olympic swimming pool, 120 station gymnasium, a variety of indoor and outdoor sports courts, and the Surrey Summit NICAS approved indoor climbing facility boasting up to 12m high climbing walls with over 65 roped routes.

The sports park is a key fitness and training centre for Surrey residents and top UK athletes. It is home to both the Surrey Storm Netball and Surrey Scorchers Basketball teams. When Surrey Sports Park approached us to update their signage and advertising materials, we were delighted to help.

High impact seamless printed wall graphics

How do you make plain walls convey fun and adventure? You cover them in giant graphics, printed on seamless polycril vinyl. Polycril is perfect for producing high-definition printed graphics as a seamless canvas. It can be cut to fit practically any space, is easy to install, and is washable, making it great for commercial interiors.

We turned Hobbledown’s great artwork into large vinyl wall coverings for the cafeteria along with giant Hobbledown logos on other walls. Giant vinyl Hobbledown logos in various colours we are also printed and applied to windows and glass partitions. Seamless vinyl was also used to create branded wall coverings, advertising Hobbledown’s sister businesses, Kidspace and Gripped.

Literally hundreds of Dibond signs

With such a large space, covering indoor and outdoor areas, Hobbledown were always going to need lots of signs. We created hundreds of bespoke sized signs on dibond aluminium boards for everything from directions to attractions and facilities to safety notices and boards providing information about Hobbledown’s animals. Installing the new signs kept the Bluedot team busy for a good couple of days, but there are certainly worse places to work. The animals can be particularly distracting!

Signs of light over Hobbledown Heath

With vinyl graphics and signage complete, that just left some illuminated signs for the iconic totem at the entrance to Hobbledown. We created illuminated Corten steel lightbox signs for Hobbledown Heath, with raised lettering in a great rusted finish, and their new attraction, Gripped Ariel Adventures, which the team took to site and installed the same day.

Toyota is the world’s best-selling automotive brand, delivering 9.6 million vehicles to customers in 2021. As you can imagine, we were delighted to be contacted by marketing agency SLV8 to produce a variety of signs and digitally printed graphics for the Toyota GB offices in Epsom, Surrey.

Enhancing spaces at Toyota with wall graphics & signage

Toyota were keen to enhance the appearance of their reception area, open plan workspaces and office suites. The team at SLV8 designed artwork featuring brand colours, Toyota and subsidiary companies’ logos, mission statements and decorative graphics. The printed graphics would be applied to a variety of surfaces including glass balustrades, doors, walls and windows.

Large format printing in many formats

We applied our graphics to a variety of surfaces, and this required printing on an assortment of different medias. For the windows and interior glass, we used print and cut vinyl to produce window logos, mission statements and frosted privacy panels. These were used for the reception area windows, glass office doors, glass balustrades and meeting room partitions. The Toyota GB building has large floor to ceiling windows and our team had to work at height to install the window graphics. Luckily this is something we are used to doing.

Large single piece polycril vinyl wall coverings, printed in Toyota colours and featuring subsidiary brand logos including Gazoo Racing, Lexus and Kinto Join, were installed to walls in the reception and open plan workspaces. Office suites and meeting rooms received frosted privacy graphics with print and cut vinyl again used to add key Toyota brands and logos. Print and cut vinyl was also used to produce the white icons and lettering which the team applied to the glass balustrades in many areas around the building. To inject some colour and fun into the staff relaxation spaces, we applied clear vinyl printed in a modern stained-glass style to the large internal windows. Creating a lovely light effect and providing a degree of privacy.

Signs and freestanding displays

While the majority of the project involved various types of printed vinyl, we also created some signage for offices and a large freestanding display for the reception area. For the signs, we applied cut vinyl graphics featuring Toyota group logos to clear acrylic panels and used stainless steel stand off fixings to install them to office walls.

The large 2m fabric display board in the main reception area, showing Toyota companies and the locations of their UK offices, uses a made to measure extruded aluminium frame with stylish feet. Graphics are printed on special display polyester which is finished with silicone edging that is inserted into a groove in the outer frame before being tensioned. These versatile display systems allow large format graphics to be seamlessly display with the added benefit that graphics can be easily changed without having to replace the outer frame. This makes them very cost effective and perfect for retail applications and exhibitions.

The size of the Toyota GB building, and the volume of graphics and signs required, meant that this was a large project that involved the entire Bluedot Display team to produce and install the graphics. It was an interesting and enjoyable project to be involved with, and like the client, we are very pleased with the results.
